What it is
Stringman is a room-scale cable robot from Neufangled Robotics. Four motors in the ceiling corners reel in lines that hang a gripper, so it can carry up to 2 kg anywhere in a room and work above clutter. The mechanical CAD, PCBs and control software are published, and it can run air gapped on your own Wi-Fi.
Difficulty 3 of 5. Print the structural parts, build two anchors and a gripper, splice wires, mount in ceiling corners; the maker calls the kit a multi-day, fairly difficult build source
What it can do
- Carry up to 2.2 kg near the floor of a room from 3 to 10 m across
- Be controlled by gamepad, LeRobot models or an MCP server
- Run air gapped on your local network, no data leaves it
